Hale Avsar has been teaching Turkish at ICA Language Services for an impressive 35 years. She became interested in a teaching career after studying Turkish Language and Literature back home in Turkey. 

What she loves about teaching with ICA is the opportunity to watch students grow and develop from total beginners to proficient speakers. She finds it exciting when students visit Turkey following the completion of the course and are able to discuss their stories and experiences with her. 

Hale enjoys sharing the culture of Turkey with her students as well. One of her favorite ways to do this is through the common practice of reading fortunes from Turkish coffee grounds. Through these lessons, she teaches about the cultural significance of Turkish coffee while diving into the unique aspects of the Turkish language’s future tense. 

Her students are often impressed by her passion and dedication. After so many years teaching, Hale says her enthusiasm for language education has only increased.
